Alec Clark, a punter for Tulane University’s football team, has been named a First Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced. This recognition highlights his achievements both on the field and in the classroom.

In his only season with Tulane, Clark averaged 46.5 yards per punt, with a long of 70 yards. Out of 48 punts, 16 traveled at least 50 yards and another 16 were placed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. Although he did not have enough attempts to qualify statistically, his average would have led the American Athletic Conference and ranked him 11th nationally. Clark was also named Special Teams Player of the Week on September 29 and earned First Team All-Conference honors.

Clark is the first Tulane football player to receive CSC Academic All-American honors since Prince Pines (First Team) and Kanan Ray (Second Team) in 2022. He becomes only the fifth player in Tulane football history to earn this distinction.

Tulane has a total of 11 Academic All-Americans in its football program history, including Joe LaSage (1961), David Hebert (1970, 1971), Gerry Sheridan (1978), Roch Hontas (1979), Andre Anderson (2009), Sam Scofield (2013, 2015), Prince Pines (2022), Kanan Ray (2022), and Alec Clark (2025).

Clark is one of three players from the American Athletic Conference to be named a First Team CSC Academic All-American this season. The other honorees are Blake Horvath from Navy and Connor McLaughlin from South Florida.

The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes student-athletes across four divisions for their performance in athletics and academics.

Tulane finished its most recent football season ranked No. 18 in both major national polls after winning the American Conference Championship—its second title in four years—with an overall record of 11-3. The team made its first appearance in the College Football Playoff under the new format as Louisiana’s first representative. Over the past four seasons, Tulane has posted a record of 43-13.

Tickets for upcoming basketball and baseball seasons can be purchased by phone at 504-861-WAVE or online at TulaneTix.com.

“Tulane University is located in the city of New Orleans. It is a city built on tradition and resiliency. The lessons Green Wave student-athletes have learned through their connection with this university and city have BUILT doctors, lawyers, business leaders, conference champions, all-conference players, All-Americans, professional athletes and NCAA tournament teams. The city of New Orleans has shaped us into who we are today. We are One City. We are Tulane. We are NOLA BUILT,” according to a statement from Tulane Athletics.
