The New Orleans City Council Governmental Affairs Committee confirmed Alyssa Rambeau as the Director of the Department of Finance on March 17. The confirmation follows Mayor Helena Moreno’s appointment and was decided by a unanimous vote.

Rambeau will lead the department responsible for forecasting annual revenues, recommending fiscal policy and budgetary strategies, managing cash flow, maximizing investment earnings on idle cash, and coordinating operations of the Employee Retirement System. Her role is considered crucial as the city faces a significant budget deficit.

Chief Administrative Officer Joe Giarrusso said, “Turning around the City’s finances is one of our highest priorities. Alyssa is a key component of our team focused on addressing the city’s chaotic and complicated budget deficit crisis. I know she has the talent and expertise to help return the city to a firm financial footing.” He added, “Her more than 20 years of experience as a strategic leader and financial professional, including work inside government, provides The City of New Orleans a foundation necessary to tackle the city’s complex needs. Thank you to the Council for unanimously advancing her confirmation.”

Rambeau commented on her new position by saying, “I understand the importance of accuracy, transparency, and compliance and am passionate about helping the City of New Orleans navigate the complexities of accounting and finance as we work together to address the city’s budget deficit. I look forward to serving the people of New Orleans as part of Mayor Moreno’s team.”

Rambeau brings experience as a senior executive leading finance, human resources, procurement, and operational functions within complex organizations. Her career has focused on driving growth, efficiency, and strategic execution in partnership with leadership teams.

The final approval for Rambeau’s appointment is scheduled for consideration at the full City Council meeting consent agenda on March 26.
