Blezzin Kimutai of Tulane University was named the American Conference women’s track athlete of the week for her performance during competition from March 23 to March 29, according to a Mar. 31 announcement by the league.
The recognition marks Kimutai’s first weekly honor in track and her second overall, having previously earned a cross country weekly award in October 2025. The last time a Tulane athlete received this outdoor track honor was when Janae Dean won it on April 22 last season.
Kimutai earned this distinction after competing in the women’s 5,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays, where she finished with a time of 15:54.81 despite rainy conditions. She placed thirteenth overall in an event that included several non-NCAA-affiliated athletes. Her time is currently ranked as the ninth-best mark in NCAA competition this season and is only surpassed in program history by her own record-setting run of 15:52.12 set one year earlier. Kimutai remains the only athlete from Tulane to break sixteen minutes in this event.
Tulane will seek to continue its success as it travels to San Marcos, Texas for the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State University from April 2 through April 4.
This recent recognition highlights both individual achievement and ongoing progress within Tulane’s women’s track program.
