Tulane’s Natalia Fantini secured a win in singles, but the Tulane Green Wave women’s tennis team fell to #38 Charlotte with a score of 4-1 on March 13 at the Goldring Tennis Center.

The match saw Charlotte improve its overall record to 11-3, while Tulane dropped to an even 7-7. Fantini delivered a strong performance at No. 6 singles, defeating Paula Dougherty of Charlotte in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. She also partnered with Natalia Perez for a doubles victory over Lucia Aranda and Yelyzaveta Chainykova, winning that match 6-1.

Despite these successes, Charlotte took control in other matches. In singles play, Ni Xi defeated Campbell Ricci (6-3, 6-4), Sara Suchankova beat Leigh Van Zyl (6-4, 6-1), and Chainykova overcame Micah Pierce (6-4, 6-3). Two singles matches were left unfinished due to the clinch format.

In doubles competition, Charlotte’s top pair Ni Xi and Sara Suchankova won against Ricci and Summer Chandler (6-0), while Shona Nakano and Andrea Chacon secured another point by defeating Van Zyl and Pierce (6-4).

Tulane will return to action on Sunday for Senior Day against #56 Rice. The Owls are set to face Charlotte on Saturday before meeting Tulane.
