The City of New Orleans Department of Parks & Parkways announced on April 13 that the final opportunities for residents to collect free wood chips will take place on select Saturdays through the end of April. The distribution will occur from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 1 Green Parade Lane, New Orleans, Louisiana.
The program is ending this month and offers residents a last chance to obtain wood chips produced from routine tree trimming operations across the city. The department said this initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship by turning vegetative debris into mulch instead of sending it to local landfills.
According to the announcement, residents can use these wood chips for landscaping, gardening, erosion control, and other outdoor projects. The department encouraged community members to make use of this resource while it is still available.
This effort aligns with the city’s broader sustainability goals and provides practical benefits for those looking to improve their outdoor spaces.
The Department of Parks & Parkways noted that these dates mark the conclusion of the current distribution program.
