The City of New Orleans announced on April 21 that all issued Non-Short Term Rental (NSTR) licenses are set to expire on June 30, 2026. License holders can now access the renewal option through their One Stop App account. Those who do not see a renewal option are advised to contact the One Stop App Help Desk.
This announcement is important for property owners who wish to continue operating under an NSTR license in compliance with city regulations. The city said that only permit holders in good standing with the Department of Safety and Permits will be eligible to apply for renewal.
According to the announcement, “NSTR License holders whose licenses have been revoked or rescinded are not eligible for renewal. If a license holder fails to renew timely, the square will be eligible for participation in the next quarterly lottery (if applicable).” The city also stated that properties may be subject to inspection during this period and owners must respond within 72 hours if an inspection is requested. Voluntarily forfeiting a license will result in its revocation and may avoid an inspection.
Additionally, under the Healthy Homes ordinance, all rental dwelling units—including short-term rentals—must be registered before obtaining a Certificate of Compliance required for both long-term and short-term rentals. Failure to register with Healthy Homes will result in denial of any renewal application.
The city directed those with questions about renewals or inspections to refer respectively to Sec.26-625 regarding permit issuance and renewal or Sec.26-624 regarding departmental authority.
Property owners seeking more information about Healthy Homes registration or needing assistance with their applications can visit the city’s online resources or contact relevant offices as outlined in the official notice.
