Lise Coetzee finished second in the 500-yard freestyle, marking a strong start for Tulane University on the opening day of the American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Coetzee’s time of 4:45.45 earned her silver and 28 points for the Green Wave, making it her best performance this season and just below her personal collegiate record set at last year’s conference meet.
Tulane currently stands sixth overall with 191 points after four top-10 finishes in individual or team events and nine athletes scoring points on Wednesday. In addition to Coetzee’s result, Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou secured fifth place in the same event with a time of 4:49.15, while Rafaela Sumida finished 13th (4:55.38) and Sydney Mullin placed 17th.
The women’s 200 medley relay team—composed of Andrea Zeebe, Paula Gaya Bisquerra, Nicole Fant, and Eliza Lennox—finished seventh with a time of 1:40.98, adding 46 points to Tulane’s total.
In the 200 individual medley, Danielle Barberie came in 12th (2:02.96), Shahboz was 19th (2:03.32), and Ebba Holgerrson finished 21st (2:04.91). Nicole Fant posted Tulane’s top finish in the 50 free at 23.62 seconds.
The relay diving group of Eva Shawver, Libby Brewer, and Taylor Cekay took eighth place overall with a score of 212.90 points.
