Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared several updates and statements on his Twitter account, addressing constituents and commenting on voting rights.
On May 10, Carter posted a message to mothers in his district: “To all the moms and mother figures in #LA02, thank you for your love and support. Happy Mother’s Day!”
The following day, May 11, he announced event details with a brief note: “Doors open at 6:30!”
On May 12, Carter addressed concerns about Black voter suppression, stating: “The voices of Black voters are under attack, but we will not be intimidated, we will not be discouraged, and we will not go backward. We will organize. We will educate. We will mobilize. We will vote. And we will continue fighting for a Louisiana and an America where every”.
Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. He previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter is currently a resident of that city and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University of Louisiana (graduated in 1986).
