Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues on his official Twitter account, ranging from climate policy and public safety to military appreciation.

On September 17, 2025, Carter voiced concerns about environmental policy under former President Donald Trump’s administration. He wrote, “Our planet can’t afford to let Trump make climate denial the new norm. I sent a letter with @RepFields to @EPA expressing our concerns about this policy. This year marks 20 years since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita — we must learn from those tragedies, not repeat them, and protect”.

Later that day, Carter commented on reports regarding the potential deployment of Louisiana National Guard troops for law enforcement duties in New Orleans. On September 17, he posted, “The leaked draft plan to activate 1,000 Louisiana National Guard troops for policing duties in @CityOfNOLA is troubling. Our Guardsmen are dedicated individuals who do an incredible job protecting our city during storms and large events, but they are NOT trained to be police”.

On September 18, Carter marked the anniversary of the U.S. Air Force by posting a message of gratitude: “Today we celebrate the US Air Force’s 78th birthday! Thank you to our brave service members, past and present, for your strength and commitment to defending our nation. Happy Birthday, @usairforce!”

Carter has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. He previously held positions in both chambers of the Louisiana state legislature and was born in New Orleans in 1963; he continues to reside there today. Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
