Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared a series of updates on his official Twitter account addressing both community engagement and national political issues.
On January 27, 2026, Carter invited constituents to an event at his office, writing: “Join me tomorrow for my Winter Open House. My team and I will be in my office located at 442 Cannon House Office Building from noon to 3:00 PM. I look forward to seeing everyone and catching up. Please see the flyer for RSVP information.”
A day later, on January 28, Carter commented on immigration enforcement policies and called for accountability among federal officials: “The violence we’re witnessing by ICE is being sanctioned by the dangerous rhetoric and reckless policies of the Trump administration and Secretary Noem. I’m standing with my @HouseDemocrats colleagues to impeach Kristin Noem. This administration MUST be held accountable.”
On January 29, Carter addressed broader challenges facing American democracy in a podcast episode: “The American people are facing serious threats to our democracy – from skyrocketing health care costs, to violent actions by ICE, and efforts to undermine voting rights. Carter has served as Louisiana’s representative since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and served in the Louisiana Senate between 2016 and 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter continues to reside there today. He graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA in 1986.
