Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing issues of democracy, hurricane preparedness, and LGBTQI+ rights.
Ahead of the start of hurricane season, Carter posted on May 31, “#Louisiana, hurricane season begins tomorrow, and it’s more important than ever to stay prepared. Throughout the season, I’ll be sharing tips and information to help you protect yourself and your loved ones. https://t.co/qkWRgFoRcY”.
Marking Pride Month on June 1 as both an ally and member of the Equality Caucus, Carter stated, “As a proud LGBTQI+ ally and member of the @EqualityCaucus, I want to wish everyone a happy #PrideMonth! I’ll always fight for the rights of the LGBTQI+ community and stand up against hatred and discrimination in all its forms. https://t.co/APyX4p7VsX”.
Carter has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond as representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district. He previously held seats in both chambers of Louisiana’s state legislature between 1992-1994 and 2016-2021 respectively. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter continues to reside there today after graduating from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA in 1986.
