Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing issues of democracy, hurricane preparedness, and LGBTQI+ rights.

On May 29, Carter wrote, “For generations, Louisianans have worked to build a democracy that is more inclusive, more representative, and more reflective of all of our people. That work continues today. My commitment remains unchanged. I will continue to support fair representation, equal opportunity at https://t.co/fL46xoLfaF”.

Ahead of the start of hurricane season, Carter posted on May 31, “#Louisiana, hurricane season begins tomorrow, and it’s more important than ever to stay prepared. Throughout the season, I’ll be sharing tips and information to help you protect yourself and your loved ones. https://t.co/qkWRgFoRcY”.

Marking Pride Month on June 1 as both an ally and member of the Equality Caucus, Carter stated, “As a proud LGBTQI+ ally and member of the @EqualityCaucus, I want to wish everyone a happy #PrideMonth!    I’ll always fight for the rights of the LGBTQI+ community and stand up against hatred and discrimination in all its forms. https://t.co/APyX4p7VsX”.

Carter has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond as representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district.
