On February 5, 2025, Congressman Troy A. Carter expressed his disapproval of plans to develop Gaza by comparing it to the French Riviera. He questioned the intentions behind such developments, asking “The next French Riviera”? Really? What about the people of Gaza? What about a two-state solution? What about decency? What about humanity? Developing war-torn land like a Trump golf resort isn’t a peace plan—it’s an insult. Serious leaders pursue real solutions, not real estate…”

Later that day, Carter attended a ceremony honoring Carol Smith with the opening of a community center in her name. He remarked on her legacy by stating “Carol Smith was a remarkable woman, dearly loved by those around her, and a cherished member of #TeamCarter. It was an honor to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Carol Watson Smith Community Center, a tribute to her legacy and memory.”

Additionally, Congressman Carter highlighted the efforts of Congressional Democrats in blocking several policy priorities proposed by President Trump. Among these was birthright citizenship, which he noted would require significant legal changes or constitutional amendments to alter.
