Congressman Troy A. Carter, who has represented Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently addressed a series of issues via his social media channels. Carter, a New Orleans native and graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, used his platform to discuss healthcare policy, extreme weather advisories, and recent legislative developments.
On July 11, 2025, Congressman Carter posted about hosting a town hall event alongside Representatives Jeffries, Robin Kelly, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Nanette Barragán. The discussion focused on what he described as “Trump’s attack on Americans Healthcare,” and was followed by an announcement of an upcoming press conference to further address their response efforts. Carter stated: “Last night I hosted a Town Hall with @RepJeffries, @RepRobinKelly, @RepDWStweets, and @RepBarragan to talk about Trump’s attack on Americans Healthcare. Today we’re holding a press conference to continue discussing how we’re fighting back.”
On July 13, 2025, Carter issued a public advisory regarding hazardous weather conditions expected in Louisiana. He warned constituents: ” Louisiana Heat Advisory Heat index up to 110° expected Monday, 10AM–7PM. Stay cool, stay hydrated — and check on seniors, kids, shut-in neighbors, and pets. Never leave pets in parked cars or outside in direct heat. Shade isn’t enough — bring them inside.”
In another post dated July 14, 2025, Carter responded to the passage of legislation he referred to as the “Big Ugly Bill.” He reaffirmed his commitment to opposing the bill through multiple avenues: “Republicans may have passed the Big Ugly Bill, but we’re not backing down. We’re fighting back—in Congress, in the courts, and in our communities. Last week, we took the fight to #LA02 to talk about how this bill will impact you.”
Troy Carter succeeded Cedric Richmond as representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district in 2021 after serving previously in both chambers of the Louisiana state legislature.
