Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues affecting his constituents through a series of posts on social media.
On December 31, 2025, Carter expressed support for the extension of a deadline by FEMA that will impact ongoing Katrina recovery projects. He stated, “I’m glad FEMA has extended this deadline that will allow these vital Katrina recovery projects to continue uninterrupted at this time. Recently, I sent a letter to DHS and have been working with my colleagues in the Louisiana delegation in support of this extension request. I”.
Marking the anniversary of a tragic event, Carter posted on January 1, 2026: “It has been one year since the horrific attack on Bourbon Street. We will never forget the innocent lives lost or the deep pain inflicted on our city. We will also never forget the bravery of the first responders who put themselves in harm’s way to prevent further loss of life.”
Later that day, he reflected on New Year’s Day with a message focused on unity and hope: “Today marks the beginning of a new year. Let us uplift one another, stand together, move forward with hope, and make this year better than the last.”
Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of Louisiana’s state legislature: as a member of the House from 1992 to 1994 and as a state senator from 2016 to 2021. Born and residing in New Orleans, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA in 1986.
