Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on July 19, 2025, addressing national politics, a tragic event in East Hollywood, and Disability Pride Month.
In his first message posted at 17:07 UTC, Carter commented on threats he perceives to American democracy. He wrote, “While most Americans sleep, MAGA loyalists work like termites—quietly eating away at our democracy. They’re coming for Medicare, Social Security, disaster relief, student aid, veterans’ benefits, even clean air and water. We can’t just watch. The **3 C’s—Congress, Courts,”.
Later that day at 17:43 UTC, Carter extended his condolences following an incident in East Hollywood. He stated: “Best wishes for the victims and families affected by this morning’s tragedy in East Hollywood. A vehicle rammed into a crowd waiting outside Vermont Hollywood nightclub on Santa Monica Boulevard—leaving more than 20 injured, several in critical condition. I’m grateful for the”.
In another post made at 19:55 UTC recognizing Disability Pride Month, Carter wrote: “July is #DisabilityPrideMonth! We celebrate the contributions of the disabled community and reaffirm our commitment to building a more inclusive and accessible society.”
Carter has served as U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 2nd District since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of both the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there, Carter holds a BA from Xavier University of Louisiana earned in 1986.
