On August 27, 2025, Carter addressed economic impacts of trade policies: “Trump’s tariffs are driving up the cost of everyday goods for all Americans — even making it more expensive to import coffee beans. Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond in Congress. Prior to his current role, he served in both the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021.
