Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of updates on social media between March 30 and March 31, 2026, addressing voting rights, legislative initiatives, community engagement, and support for transgender rights.
On March 30, Carter discussed his recent appearance on WBOK Media: “This week on @wbokmedia, I talked about the importance of protecting our sacred right to vote from dangerous legislation like the SAVE Act. I also gave a legislative roundup, including the Mental Health Workforce Act and the CLIMB Act, and discussed a recent @HomelandDems hearing”.
Later that day, Carter reflected on his participation at an academic event: “It was a pleasure to speak at the 2026 ARD Research Symposium. Being in a room with students, researchers, faculty, and leaders in the 1890 community, I saw solutions for our country’s complex challenges. I saw innovation. And most importantly, I saw hope. @1890foundation” (March 30).
On March 31—Transgender Day of Visibility—Carter addressed ongoing political debates regarding trans rights: “This Transgender Day of Visibility, we celebrate the trans community. While the Trump administration works to silence trans people and push its hateful agenda, let’s recommit to fighting for trans rights and building a more loving and safer future for all. @EqualityCaucus”.
Troy Carter has served as U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 2nd District since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021. He previously held seats in both chambers of Louisiana’s state legislature over several decades of public service. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there at age 59, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA in 1986.
