Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has taken to social media to address concerns over Medicaid fraud and to honor a former state legislator.
On August 16, 2025, Carter posted: “The audit is clear: the fraud is in the boardroom, not the living room. Time to repeal Trump’s Big Ugly Law and protect the people Medicaid was built to serve.” Later that day, he added: “Medicaid fraud isn’t the poor — it’s insurers cashing checks for the dead. Trump’s Big Ugly Law rewards the rich while punishing the vulnerable.”
In a separate post on August 17, 2025, Carter paid tribute to a fellow Louisiana politician: “Joe Reece Salter dedicated over two decades of service in the Louisiana House of Representatives, where he made history as the first representative from his district to serve as House Speaker. His leadership left a lasting mark on our state, and his passion for education shaped https://t.co/Vf1BYsiq9d”
Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. He previously served in both chambers of the Louisiana legislature—first in the House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and later in the Senate from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter continues to reside there and holds a BA from Xavier University of Louisiana.
