Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to address concerns about the impact of former President Donald Trump’s policies on Louisiana and broader national issues.
On September 9, 2025, Carter posted: “Louisiana is being hit over and over with the fallout of Trump’s dangerous policies.
I joined @TheRevAl on @PoliticsNation to discuss major issues impacting our nation & especially our state, including attacks on the #VotingRightsAct, the deployment of the National Guard, cuts to https://t.co/uhD7st3YTC”.
The following day, September 10, 2025, he continued his criticism of Trump’s influence on Louisiana politics by stating: “Donald Trump is cheating to try and cling to power.
The Republican Legislature and Governor in Louisiana created a fair map that reflects our state’s reality and established two majority-minority districts. Now, because Trump wants more seats in Congress, we’re being asked to https://t.co/pQp6x2VLJF”.
Later that same day, Carter commented on abortion rights and federal authority: “Republicans say they want to “leave abortion up to the states”, but the Trump admin is exploiting federal power to roll back rights even further. I signed a letter to prevent @DeptVetAffairs from cutting critical access to reproductive care and counseling for over two million https://t.co/xj0Eo7JLK1”.
Carter has served as Louisiana’s 2nd district representative since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond. Before joining Congress, he was a member of both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1992-1994) and the Louisiana Senate (2016-2021). Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter continues to reside there. He graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA in 1986.
