Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. House of Representatives, recently shared a series of posts on his social media account highlighting community celebrations, health care concerns, and a local church visit to Washington D.C.

On September 23, 2025, Carter extended holiday greetings to his constituents: “Shanah Tovah! Wishing all those celebrating in #LA02 a happy, healthy and sweet new year. May this season of renewal bring you and your family peace.”

The following day, September 24, 2025, Carter addressed ongoing debates over health care policy in Congress. He wrote: “Unless Republicans act, health care tax credits will expire, sending premiums soaring & ripping coverage from cancer patients & those with chronic illnesses. I won’t stop fighting alongside my @HouseDemocrats colleagues to extend these credits & block #GOP Medicaid cuts, and”

On September 25, 2025, Carter welcomed members of a local church music ministry to the nation’s capital: “Proud to welcome the Franklin Avenue Baptist Church Music Ministry from #LA02 to D.C.! Their powerful voices and spirit will uplift and inspire us all. I’m looking forward to their performance tonight. @FABCNOLA”

Carter has served as the U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 2nd District since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and in the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there at age 59, Carter graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986.
