Congressman Troy A. Carter, who has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently addressed several legislative and public safety issues through a series of social media posts. Carter, a New Orleans native with a longstanding career in state and federal government, highlighted his legislative efforts as well as ongoing concerns affecting his constituents.
On July 15, 2025, Carter announced the passage of his bill in the House: “My bill, H.R. 2037, the #OPENRAN Outreach Act passed the House unanimously! Proud to partner with @RepRichHudson on this legislation to support small and rural providers, strengthen network security, and reduce reliance on foreign vendors.”
Later that day, Carter drew attention to severe weather conditions impacting parts of Louisiana. In a post dated July 15, 2025, he stated: “#LA02 — Parts of Louisiana, including @CityOfNOLA and #BatonRouge, are facing extreme heat with temperatures feeling like 110 degrees. As these conditions persist, please stay safe and check in on children, seniors, and pets. Do not leave pets out in extreme weather.”
In another message posted on July 15, 2025, Carter commented on recent actions by the Supreme Court regarding federal employment: “Did you know that #SCOTUS is allowing Trump to fire hundreds of workers at the Department of Education? As Trump continues to fuel disinformation, it’s incredibly dangerous to give him unchecked power over our federal agencies. Firing these workers threatens the future of public”
Troy Carter has served in Congress since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021. He previously held positions in both chambers of the Louisiana legislature and is an alumnus of Xavier University of Louisiana.
