Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets highlighting significant milestones and expressing gratitude to community leaders.
On July 26, 2025, Carter marked an important civil rights anniversary by posting: “Today marks the 35th anniversary of the #ADA, a landmark #CivilRights law that has transformed millions of lives by prohibiting discrimination against people with disabilities. Let’s celebrate the progress we’ve made, and keep fighting for equity, access, and justice for all.”
A day later, on July 27, Carter used his social media platform to commend law enforcement efforts following a violent incident earlier in the year. He wrote: “At our @HomelandDems hearing, I had the opportunity to personally thank Col. Hodges for the quick and brave response by the @LAStatePolice and @NOPDNews during the horrific New Year’s Day attack. We also talked about how to prevent and deter future attacks on large-scale events.”
That same day, Carter extended personal congratulations to a local religious leader: “Happy Anniversary my dear Pastor, Rev. C.S Gordon on 38 years of saving souls.”
Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served in both chambers of Louisiana’s state legislature—from 1992 to 1994 in the House of Representatives and from 2016 to 2021 in the Senate. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there at age 59, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
