Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates and condolences on social media regarding local events and developments between August 23 and August 24, 2025.
On August 23, Carter posted about the passing of a notable New Orleans figure, writing: “New Orleans has lost a true treasure in my dear friend, Dorian Bennett. Dorian was more than a gifted realtor—he was a champion for our city’s culture, a proud member of the Jazz Fest board, and a man whose generosity and spirit touched countless lives. The following day, Carter addressed Louisiana voters with information about changes to absentee ballots: “Hey, Louisiana! Expect to see a new design of your absentee ballot when you vote this year. Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District in Congress since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond. He previously served in both chambers of the Louisiana legislature.
He was born in New Orleans in 1963 and continues to reside there.
Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
