Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 13, 2026, highlighting community celebrations and events.
In his first tweet of the day, Carter recognized the anniversary of a major women’s organization: “Happy Founders’ Day to the dynamic women of @dstinc1913! For 113 years, your legacy of sisterhood and service has strengthened communities and inspired generations.” (January 13, 2026).
Later that day, Carter marked an important milestone in Korean American history. He wrote: “123 years ago today, the first Korean immigrants arrived in the United States. Today, we celebrate Korean Americans across our nation and honor the many ways they have enriched our communities, strengthened our culture, and served our country.” (January 13, 2026).
Carter also shared his experience attending a significant local political event: “It was an honor to attend the inauguration of Mayor @HelenaMorenoLA and to stand alongside @KamalaHarris and our local leaders in support of a shared call to unity. As Mayor Moreno begins her term, I look forward to working together to move New Orleans forward and deliver for the” (January 13, 2026).
Carter has served in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond as representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district. Before joining Congress, he held positions in both the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter remains based in his hometown. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986.
