Troy Carter, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for Louisiana’s 2nd District, used social media to express his views on various political issues impacting the nation. Carter, who succeeded Cedric Richmond in 2021, has been an active voice in the Democratic Party.

On March 31, 2025, Congressman Carter criticized House Republicans for their policy decisions, specifically targeting their efforts to reduce food assistance. In his post, he stated, “House Republicans are betraying everyday Americans and cutting food assistance for kids, seniors, and veterans to fund massive tax breaks for their billionaire friends. Last week, I stood with @HouseDemocrats to reaffirm my commitment to save #SNAP.”

Later that day, Congressman Carter addressed statements made by former President Donald Trump regarding presidential term limits. He wrote, “Donald Trump claims to have a ‘workaround’ to the Constitution’s two-term limit for presidents. Let’s be clear: The 22nd Amendment says NO. No loopholes. No exceptions. No third term.”

On April 1, 2025, Carter again referenced Donald Trump, this time in relation to voting laws. In a tweet, he stated, “Donald Trump and Republicans are trying to bring back Jim Crow-era voting laws and stop married women from voting…April Fools! Wait. Sorry, I wish I was joking.”
