Congressman Troy A. Carter, representing Louisiana’s 2nd district, has recently taken to social media to express his stance on current legislative matters. Serving as the First Vice Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Carter is vocal about his opposition to certain policies and initiatives that he believes do not serve the interests of the American public.
On July 2, 2025, Congressman Carter tweeted, “As First Vice Chair of @TheBlackCaucus, I’m standing with my colleagues to urge Republicans to stop working for billionaires—and start working for the American people. These cuts will hurt everyone, no matter their background, and we’re fighting back.” This statement underscores his commitment to advocating for policies that prioritize citizens over affluent individuals.
In a subsequent post on July 3, 2025, he shared details about his participation in an emergency rally alongside members of The Black Caucus and various civil rights leaders. He stated, “I joined an emergency rally with @TheBlackCaucus, civil rights leaders, faith leaders, activists, and advocates for justice to talk about how we’re fighting to STOP the big, ugly bill. We’re on the floor now to vote hell no.”
Later that day on July 3rd, Carter emphasized his dedication by saying: “We are prepared to stay as long as it takes to protect the American people. The clock means nothing when lives, livelihoods, and Medicaid are on the line. We fight through the night so families don’t suffer in the morning. Vote NO on the Big Ugly Bill.” This highlights his determination to continue efforts against legislation he perceives as harmful.
Troy Carter has been serving in Congress since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021. Before this role in Congress, he served in both Louisiana’s House of Representatives and Senate.
