Tulane University’s Daniel Phillips was named the American Conference Player of the Week on Mar. 24 after a series of strong performances in men’s tennis.
The recognition highlights Phillips’ recent achievements, including a perfect record in No. 1 singles matches last week. He secured victories over New Mexico’s Dario Ciobotaru, Southern’s Sebastien Byng, and Rice’s Petro Kuzmenok, who was ranked number 49 nationally at the time. In his match against Kuzmenok, Phillips won in three sets with scores of 3-6, 6-1, and 6-3.
Phillips has also contributed to Bermuda’s Davis Cup campaign earlier this year and currently holds a singles record of seven wins and six losses for the spring season. In doubles play with teammate Lance Nisbet, he has achieved a record of seven wins and three losses.
The Tulane Green Wave men’s tennis team stands at six wins and eight losses this season. Their upcoming matches include facing #62 Memphis on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by #43 Middle Tennessee on Sunday at noon.
Supporters are encouraged to contribute to Tulane Athletics through the Green Wave Club to help provide resources for student-athletes.
