Dylan Biddick drove in five runs for the New Orleans Privateers, but the team was unable to hold onto their lead and fell 10-7 to the LSU Tigers on April 21 at Alex Box Stadium.
The game saw multiple lead changes, with the Privateers twice moving ahead during the middle innings. However, a decisive bottom of the fifth inning allowed LSU to score seven runs with two outs, shifting momentum firmly in favor of the Tigers.
The key moment came when Steven Milam tied the game for LSU with a two-run double after Cade Arrambide walked to load the bases. Omar Serna Jr. followed up with a single that put LSU ahead. The Tigers added three more runs before Jack Ruckert capped off their rally with a two-run single.
Earlier in the game, Biddick delivered a two-out, two-run single that gave New Orleans a temporary 4-2 advantage by bringing home Dathan Cummings and Josh Hoffmann. In his final at-bat during the ninth inning, Biddick hit an opposite field three-run homer off Gavin Guidry, cutting into LSU’s lead. Guidry responded by striking out the next two batters to secure victory for LSU.
Tiger pitchers combined for 17 strikeouts over nine innings. Connor Benge earned his second win of the season while Ruckert was notable as he collected at least two hits and was one of nine different Tigers who scored during the contest.
Bryson Goff started for New Orleans and threw a scoreless opening inning using just ten pitches against LSU’s top hitters. Cummings reached base three times and scored twice; Hoffmann also reached base twice and scored twice; Kruise Newman finished with two hits including his tenth home run of this season.
Looking ahead, New Orleans will host Lamar University this weekend in a three-game series starting Friday evening.
