The University of New Orleans men’s golf team finished the first two rounds of the Southland Conference Championship on Apr. 21 with all four scoring players ranked in the top 25. The Privateers recorded a score of 298 in the opening round and improved to a 293 in the second round, placing them fifth overall at the end of play on Tuesday.

This performance is significant for New Orleans as it demonstrates strong individual showings across their lineup during a competitive conference tournament. The team had started well, holding second place at two-under par early on Monday at Comanche Trace before rain and lightning halted play after just three holes.

Garrett Trahan is tied for ninth after posting a combined score of 144, highlighted by a stretch where he was two-under par over nine holes in round two and made three birdies during that span. Max Feistmantl and Matthew Lotz are both tied for fourteenth with scores of 148; Feistmantl led UNO with seven birdies over both rounds, while Lotz shot the best single round among his teammates with a one-under-par 71 in round two. Tom Watson sits tied for twenty-first at 149, finishing strong by playing par or better on thirteen out of his last fourteen holes Tuesday afternoon.

Adam Trahan opened with a score of seventy-eight before being replaced by Taylor Broadway, who shot seventy-nine in Tuesday’s second round. The final day will see Adam Trahan tee off first for UNO at 10:45 a.m., followed by Watson, Feistmantl, Lotz, and Garrett Trahan at staggered intervals through late morning.

The championship’s final round will be broadcast live on ESPN+ Wednesday as New Orleans competes alongside HCU and Southeastern. This marks an opportunity for UNO to improve its standing as all eyes turn to how these individual performances translate into team results.
