Sophomore Francesca Pompa finished tied for 17th among 91 players at the Huntington Bank Collegiate, Tulane University announced on Apr. 7. The event was hosted by Southern Methodist University and took place at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas. The Tulane Green Wave women’s golf team placed tenth out of seventeen teams with a total score of 880 over three rounds.
This tournament marked the final regular season event for Tulane before the postseason. Pompa led her team with a three-round score of one under par (215), including two rounds under par and twelve birdies across the competition.
Freshman Sophia Macias followed on the leaderboard, tying for fiftieth place with a score of six over par (222). Macias also contributed ten birdies and tied for the team lead in pars. Gabriella Gilrowski finished tied for sixty-second overall, recording nine birdies and leading her teammates on par four holes.
Sophia Chen matched Macias with ten birdies and ended in a tie for sixty-seventh place. Cristina Albertazzi rounded out Tulane’s lineup, tying for seventy-fifth with six birdies during the tournament.
Tulane will next compete in the American Conference Championship from April 20 to April 22 at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Florida.
