Congressman Troy A. Carter, representing Louisiana’s 2nd district since 2021, has shared several messages on social media addressing key issues and events. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter has been active in public service for decades, previously serving in the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate.

On February 14, 2025, Congressman Carter marked the anniversary of a significant tragedy with a call to action: “Today marks seven years since 17 lives were tragically taken in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. As we remember the lives lost, let’s also honor them by continuing to fight for common-sense gun reform.”

Later that day, he criticized budget proposals from House Republicans: “House Republicans need trillions in budget cuts to pay for tax breaks for billionaires and corporations. Where is that money coming from? From the 1.4 million Louisianians who rely on @MedicaidGov —including 53.9% of children and 74% of those in nursing homes.” He emphasized his commitment by stating “We will NOT let…” followed by a link to further details.

In another post from February 14th, Congressman Carter informed constituents about an upcoming event: “Do you need a passport? My office is providing passport services at our #PassportAcceptance event on February 20th in @CityOfNOLA. Apply for your passport, no appointment is required! Please review the checklist.” The message includes information on where to find more details regarding necessary documents.
