Josh Hoffmann delivered a walk-off infield single on Apr. 14, giving the New Orleans Privateers an 11-10 victory over the Troy Trojans in a ten-inning game at Maestri Field.
The game was marked by multiple lead changes and strong offensive performances from both teams. The Privateers started quickly, scoring seven runs in the first two innings, including a two-run single by Adrian Dominguez. Kruise Newman contributed with his ninth home run of the season during this early surge.
Troy responded with two home runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 7-7. Jimmy Janicki drove in three runs with a three-run homer and Steven Meier followed with another home run. Janicki finished just a triple short of hitting for the cycle and had three hits on the night.
New Orleans used late-game power to keep pace, as Owen Smith hit a solo home run to tie it at 8-8 in the sixth inning, and Eli Tidwell sent one over center field to level things again at 10-10 in the eighth. In total, Smith scored four runs and collected three hits while Dominguez also tallied three hits.
Skylar Jones pitched the final two innings for New Orleans and earned his second win of the season. The Privateer pitchers combined for fourteen strikeouts while drawing nine walks against Troy’s pitching staff.
The Privateers will begin a three-game series against HCU on Friday evening.
