Troy A. Carter, a U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 2nd district, recently shared several updates via social media regarding significant developments in his state and broader legislative matters.
On March 24, 2025, Congressman Carter announced a substantial investment by Hyundai Steel Company in Ascension Parish. He stated that “Today I’m announcing that Hyundai Steel Company will invest $5.8 BILLION in a new, next generation, state-of-the-art steel production facility in @ascensionparish. This project will create approximately 1,300 direct, high-paying jobs, over four thousand indirect jobs.”
The following day, on March 25, 2025, Carter highlighted the significance of this investment within the context of recent legislative efforts. He noted that “When I helped craft and voted for the #InflationReductionAct, these are the types of investments in #Louisiana I envisioned. Hyundai’s steel mill in @ascensionparish is a major milestone in fortifying America’s manufacturing future.”
In another post on March 25, he addressed issues related to voting rights and representation. He emphasized the importance of fair districting by stating that “The creation of the second majority-minority district in #Louisiana was about fairness and compliance with federal law. The Supreme Court has a duty to uphold the integrity of the #VotingRightsAct and ensure that Black voices are not silenced through manufactured gerrymandering.”
