Jake Toporek of the Tulane baseball team was named to the American Athletic Conference’s Weekly Honor Roll, according to an announcement by the league office on April 6. The recognition follows Tulane’s recent conference road series win over Wichita State and a 3-1 record last week.
Toporek, a graduate student from Dana Point, California, made his second conference start of the season on April 2. He pitched 5.1 scoreless innings against Wichita State, striking out four batters while allowing only three hits and no walks. Only two opposing players reached as far as second base during his outing. His performance marked just the sixth time this season that a Tulane starting pitcher has worked past the fifth inning, and he held Wichita State to a .156 batting average in his start.
This is Toporek’s first career selection for an American Conference weekly honor since joining Tulane. It is also the sixth time this season that a member of the Tulane baseball team has received weekly recognition from the conference. Over the past two seasons, Tulane baseball has been honored by the league office fifteen times.
Other Green Wave players who have earned weekly awards in 2026 include Tanner Chun and Jack Frankel (Weekly Honor Roll on Feb. 23), Trey Cehajic (Pitcher of the Week on March 2), Jason Wachs and Jude Abbadessa (Weekly Honor Roll on March 23). Toporek’s award was announced for April 6.
Tulane will continue its road trip with a game against Lamar at Vincent-Beck Stadium in Beaumont, Texas, scheduled for Tuesday, April 7 at 6:05 p.m.
