Tulane baseball outfielder Jason Wachs was named the American Conference’s Player of the Week, according to a May 11 announcement from the league office. The recognition follows Tulane’s weekend series win over South Florida.
Wachs, a sophomore from Pembroke Pines, Florida, contributed significantly to Tulane’s offense during the week. He posted a .500 batting average with seven hits, two doubles, two home runs, nine RBIs, and reached base at least twice in three of four games. Wachs also delivered key performances in crucial moments: he hit a two-run home run against LSU and recorded game-winning hits in both Saturday and Sunday victories over South Florida.
“This is the first time that Wachs has been named the league’s Player of the Week in his career,” according to Tulane Green Wave Men’s Baseball. It is also noted that this marks his fourth weekly honor from the conference office over two seasons.
The team has now received nine weekly honors this season and eighteen total across two years. Other players recognized by the conference include Tanner Chun, Jack Frankel, Trey Cehajic, Jude Abbadessa, and Jake Toporek for their performances throughout 2026.
Looking ahead, Tulane will travel to play Rice University from May 14-16 in an important conference series as they seek to build on their recent success.
