The Liberty men’s tennis team defeated Tulane 5-2 on March 13 in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Flames, ranked 63rd nationally, secured the win with three singles matches going to three sets.

This result brings Liberty’s overall record to 8-7, while Tulane falls to 4-7 for the season. The match featured strong performances from both teams. Daniel Phillips and Alec Gaudin of Tulane each won their singles matches in straight sets at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, respectively. In doubles play, Phillips teamed up with Lance Nisbet to defeat Liberty’s R Santiago Arraez and Guy Vorwerk with a score of 6-0 at the top spot.

Despite these efforts, Liberty clinched victories in other singles and doubles matches to secure the overall win. The detailed results show that Siwanat Auytayakul, Benjamin Sparks, Chase Robinson, and Guy Vorwerk all contributed singles wins for Liberty.

Tulane’s next scheduled match is set for Wednesday against New Mexico at Goldring Tennis Center. A previously planned contest against Old Dominion was canceled due to a tragedy in Norfolk on Thursday, as reported by ODU Sports.

Looking ahead, both teams will continue their seasons with upcoming matches as they seek to improve their records.
