The New Orleans Fire Department responded on March 18 to a two-alarm fire at an occupied single-family home located at 4525 Charlene Drive in New Orleans East. The incident began when the department received a call at 12:56 p.m., and the first units arrived on scene by 1:03 p.m.

The fire was found heavily involving the rear of the residence, with two adult residents inside at the time. Neighbors alerted them to the danger, allowing both individuals to escape safely. A second alarm was requested at 1:07 p.m. due to concerns that the fire might spread to a neighboring house.

Fire operations personnel were able to limit damage to only mild or moderate harm on the left and rear exterior walls of the adjacent property. In total, eighteen NOFD units and fifty personnel responded to contain and control the blaze, which was declared under control by 1:21 p.m. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

The American Red Cross has been contacted to assist three adults and one child affected by the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
