The University of New Orleans men’s golf team is set to participate in the Colin Montgomerie Invitational for the first time in two years. The event will be held at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas, and is hosted by HCU. Competition will take place over two days, with 54 holes played—two rounds on Monday and a final round on Tuesday morning. Play begins both days at 8:30 a.m. using a shotgun start.
New Orleans will compete alongside teams such as Central Michigan, Missouri State, Southeastern, East Texas A&M, North Dakota, Midlands CC, Nicholls, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, Weber State and UIW. HCU will field both A and B squads.
The Privateers’ lineup includes seniors Max Feistmantl (74.4 season average) and Tom Watson (72.4), junior Matthew Lotz (72.9), redshirt sophomores Adam Trahan (75.5) and Jude Bourque (76.3). No individual golfers from UNO will compete independently at this tournament.
Sweetwater Country Club’s Pecan Course measures 7,051 yards with a par of 72 and features a course rating of 74.5 and slope of 140.
Weather forecasts predict partly cloudy conditions for both days of play with highs in the low- to mid-80s Fahrenheit. There is a 24% chance of rain on Monday with southeast winds between 10-15 mph; Tuesday brings a higher chance of rain at 55%, early fog, and south-southeast winds up to 20 mph.
In their most recent outing at the Gulf South Intercollegiate earlier this spring season, Max Feistmantl tied for fourth place while Tom Watson tied for seventh as New Orleans finished eighth overall with a team score of 932 after improving significantly between rounds.
Reflecting on their last appearance at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational two seasons ago, Kyle Bennett led UNO with three under-par rounds to secure third place individually as the team finished seventh overall at ten-under-par across the opening two rounds.
