The New Orleans Privateers men’s tennis team is set to compete in three matches over a five-day span, beginning with an away match against Southern Miss on Friday. After the match in Hattiesburg, the team will return home for contests against Norfolk State on Monday and College of Charleston on Tuesday.

The Privateers recently faced Tulane and suffered their first loss of the season. The match included several close singles competitions, with Tulane winning two out of three matches that extended to three sets. In doubles play, Tulane secured victories at the second and third flights with identical 6-4 scores. Jacob Rouleau-Mailly and Jerall Yasin were tied 5-5 against Tulane’s nationally ranked doubles team before their match was stopped.

Jerall Yasin made his singles debut for New Orleans during the Tulane match at the fifth flight position. Peter Kieslinger also played his first singles match of the season, competing at flight six as a freshman from Austria.

Since 2020, New Orleans has won four out of five meetings with Southern Miss, including a 4-0 sweep last February. The Privateers have only played College of Charleston twice in recent years—a defeat in 2017 and a win in 2022.

Southern Miss currently holds a record of 3-4 this season with wins over Lubbock Christian, Jackson State, and Alcorn State.
