New Orleans police seek help locating person of interest in vehicle theft case

New Orleans Police are seeking public assistance to locate Dashaun Brackens, a person of interest in an ongoing investigation. Brackens, a Black male born on November 7, 2006, is believed to live in Chalmette, Louisiana.

Police state that a vehicle theft took place in the Fourth District on January 24, 2026. Investigators believe that Brackens has information relevant to the case. Authorities emphasize that “Dashaun Brackens is NOT wanted for this crime and is sought because of the information he is believed to possess.”

Anyone with information that could aid the investigation is encouraged to contact NOPD Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP. Tips may also be submitted online through https://www.crimestoppersgno.org.
