The New Orleans Police Department asked for the public’s help on Mar. 23 in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for theft. Investigators said that around 9:30 a.m. on March 19, the individual broke into several mailboxes at an apartment building in the 3000 block of Gentilly Boulevard, stealing multiple pieces of mail before fleeing in a red Mazda sedan with a temporary tag displayed in the rear window.

The case is important because stolen mail can contain sensitive personal information and may lead to further crimes such as identity theft or financial fraud.

Police described the suspect as a slim-build Black male with tattoos on his chest and neck, including star-shaped tattoos near his right eye. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a baseball cap, grey zippered sweatshirt, sweatpants, and white shoes.

Authorities reminded residents that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The police urged anyone with information about this investigation to contact NOPD Third District detectives at 504-658-6030. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
