The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team secured two victories over Nicholls on Mar. 27 at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex, winning the first match 4-1 and the second match 3-2.

These wins highlight the team’s ability to overcome close competition, particularly in the second match where they won flights one, three, and five. The deciding moment came when Lindsey Neal and Jordan Madsen clinched a three-set win at flight five. After narrowly taking the first set 21-19 and dropping the second set to Nicholls’ Claire Reed and Reagan Erickson 21-17, Neal and Madsen controlled the third set with a commanding 15-5 finish.

Lucianna Alexander and Renata Dykstra contributed another key victory in flight three by closing out their opponents with scores of 21-16 and 21-17. Cassie and Ellie Sieling delivered a dominant performance as well, conceding only 16 points in their match for a decisive win of 21-6, 21-10 after previously securing a strong victory earlier in the day.

Alexander and Dykstra finished undefeated on Friday by also winning their first match of the day in three sets (21-19, 13-21, 15-6). Ashley Salazar and Brooke Dow started off with a hard-fought three-set win against Nicholls that ended with a score of 15-10 in the final set.

Looking ahead, New Orleans will host Mobile for two matches on Friday, Apr. 3 at Privateer Beach Courts.
