The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team began their conference schedule with a win over Stephen F. Austin and ended the Cowgirl Beach Bash tournament with three victories out of four matches. The event took place in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and was hosted by McNeese.
In their opening match, the Privateers narrowly defeated Stephen F. Austin 3-2. Cassie and Ellie Sieling secured a lengthy first set 29-27 before winning the second set as well. Renata Dykstra and Jordan Madsen also won in straight sets, holding off a late rally from their opponents. Ashley Salazar and Brooke Dow added another point for New Orleans by winning both sets of their match.
Against Mary-Hardin Baylor, the Privateers recorded a 4-1 victory. Salazar and Dow dominated their match, allowing only 20 points in total across two sets. Kylie Lyons and Lucianna Alexander claimed their first win of the weekend after coming back to take the third set 15-9. The Sieling twins also contributed with a straight-set win.
New Orleans then edged Texas A&M-Kingsville 3-2 on Saturday morning. Lyons and Alexander prevailed in extra rallies during the first set before finishing strong in the second set for a 24-22, 21-15 result. Salazar and Dow continued their unbeaten run at the tournament with another straight-set win, while Dykstra and Lyons closed out their match by taking the deciding third set.
The final match saw New Orleans fall to McNeese 4-1. Despite the loss, Salazar and Dow finished undefeated for the weekend after coming from behind to win their last match in three sets.
Next on the schedule for New Orleans is hosting duties at the Pontchartrain Beach Bash, where they will face College of Charleston, Southeastern, and McNeese.
