The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team will compete in the Southland Mid-Conference event in Youngsville, Louisiana this weekend, with all four scheduled matches affecting their conference record, according to a March 19 announcement.

This event is important for the Privateers as it will determine their standing within the conference. The team will play McNeese and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., followed by matches against HCU and Nicholls on Saturday at the same times.

The Privateers currently hold a 4-8 overall record and are undefeated in conference play at 2-0. They recently secured victories over Stephen F. Austin during the Cowgirl Beach Bash and Southeastern at the Pontchartrain Beach Bash. Cassie and Ellie Sieling contributed significantly by remaining undefeated during the Pontchartrain Beach Bash, achieving three wins and improving their season record to 7-4 while playing exclusively at flight one.

As a team, New Orleans has shown strength in the top flights, holding a combined record of 15-8 between flights one and two. Despite facing McNeese twice this season without securing a win, this weekend marks their first encounters with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Nicholls, and HCU.

Looking ahead, the Privateers have four more weekends of competition before participating in the Southland Championships hosted by Corpus Christi in late April.
