The New Orleans Privateers lost 17-12 to the ULM Warhawks in a high-scoring baseball game on Mar. 18 at Lou St. Amant Field.

The matchup saw both teams scoring frequently, with the Privateers putting runs on the board in seven of their nine innings. Miles Curley started strong for New Orleans, driving in Owen Smith and Eli Tidwell with a two-run single in the first inning. Despite taking an early lead, the Privateers could not hold off ULM’s offense.

ULM responded quickly, scoring three runs in their half of the first inning and adding five more in the second, including a home run by Marcus Aranda. The Warhawks extended their lead further with a four-run fourth inning that included only one hit but was aided by walks, wild pitches, and errors from New Orleans.

Collin Husser hit his first home run of the year for New Orleans in the eighth inning, bringing his team within three runs at 15-12. However, ULM added two more runs in their half of the eighth to secure the win. The game marked the 65th meeting between these teams and featured a combined total of 29 runs—the third highest ever between them.

Curley finished with three hits and five RBI for New Orleans, just missing a cycle by one home run. Tidwell and Smith each had two doubles and together scored seven runs. Kruise Newman walked twice and drove in a run while Brock Hill pitched 1.2 scoreless innings.

The Privateers will next play Northwestern State on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
