The University of New Orleans men’s golf team will travel to Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile, Alabama, for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on March 30-31. This marks the team’s third appearance at Magnolia Grove since 1992.

The event is significant as it brings together several collegiate teams for a two-day, 54-hole tournament. The Privateers previously finished ninth at this course both in a rain-shortened event in 1993 and again last season over three rounds.

Returning players from last year’s tournament include Garrett Trahan, Max Fiestmantl, Tom Watson, and Taylor Boasberg. Boasberg recorded the lowest individual round for a Privateer at Magnolia Falls with a score of 70 last season. The lineup for this year’s event features seniors Max Feistmantl (73.7 average), Tom Watson (72.5), Garrett Trahan (77.2), Taylor Boasberg (77.8), and junior Matthew Lotz (72.9). No individual golfers from UNO will compete independently.

Teams confirmed to participate are South Alabama (hosts), Delaware, HCU, Kansas State, Loyola Chicago, Marshall, Nicholls, Samford, Texas State, UAB and Valparaiso; Alabama and LSU will send three individual golfers each as well.

Magnolia Grove’s Falls Course is set up as a par-71 layout measuring 7,158 yards with a rating of 74.6 and slope of 130. Weather forecasts predict partly sunny conditions with highs in the mid-to-upper seventies and chances of rain both days.

In their most recent outing at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational earlier this month, New Orleans finished eighth overall after posting three rounds under 295 strokes; Max Feistmantl led with his second straight top-10 finish by shooting rounds of 71, 68 and 73 for a total score of 210.
