The New Orleans Privateers baseball team is set to start a five-game week, beginning with the first match of the 2026 Pelican Cup against Tulane Green Wave at Maestri Field on Tuesday. The following day, they will play a mid-week home game against Southern, with both games scheduled for a 6:30 pm start.
Over the past weekend, the Privateers recorded one win and two losses, defeating Northern Kentucky 10-3. During that game, they hit three home runs and Luke Lycette earned his team’s first save of the season.
Dylan Biddick continued his strong performance at bat for New Orleans. He went 9-for-18 last week and had five RBIs in the victory over Northern Kentucky. So far this season, Biddick has collected 14 hits and eight RBIs across six games.
Eli Tidwell also contributed nine hits during the Maestri Classic while playing both third base and center field. He scored five runs and hit his first home run as a Privateer in the game against Northern Kentucky.
After two weekends of play, New Orleans is tied for third place in home runs within their conference with 10 homers. Only UIW (17) and UTRGV (11) have more. Kruise Newman leads the team with three home runs, which ties him for second place in the conference.
Historically, New Orleans has faced Tulane 160 times. Tulane holds a 90-70 advantage in those meetings ahead of Tuesday’s contest. The Privateers recently beat Southern 14-5 last Wednesday and have won eight consecutive games in their all-time series against them.
Tulane enters this week’s matchup with a record of 5-2 from their first seven games; their only losses were to top-ranked UCLA and Loyola Marymount. They are averaging eight runs per game so far this year. Tanner Chun leads Tulane hitters with an average of .368 while Jason Wachs tops the team in RBIs with eleven.
Southern secured its first win of the season by defeating Grambling 13-3 at the Andre Dawson Classic last Friday. No pitcher from Southern has thrown more than five innings during their initial two weeks of play.
