The New Orleans Privateers men’s and women’s tennis teams were both defeated by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Apr. 6 at the Thomas Henry Tennis Center, with each match ending in a 4-0 result for the Islanders.

The matches highlight a challenging day for both squads as they continue their spring season. The outcomes reflect the Islanders’ strong performance in both doubles and singles play.

In women’s action, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi secured the doubles point after winning at flight two and three with identical 6-1 scores, followed by a 6-4 win at flight one. In singles competition, Adriana Jimenez won decisively at flight five (6-0, 6-2), Kseniya Ramanouskaya claimed victory at flight three (6-1, 6-0), and Leticia Tarocco clinched the match for the Islanders with a straight-set win at flight one (6-2, 6-2). The remaining singles matches were unfinished but saw the Islanders leading in each first set.

On the men’s side, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi also took control early by winning doubles points at flights one and two (both 6-1) before securing a late service break to take flight three (7-5). Maxime Salesses was first off court after posting a perfect score of 6-0, 6-0. Omar Suarez provided the deciding point with his win at flight two (6-2, 6-0). Nicholas Niox led when Jacob Rouleau-Mailly retired from their match. Several other matches were left unfinished but had seen Islander players ahead.

Both Privateers teams are scheduled to face Nicholls on Thursday starting at 11 a.m., as they look to rebound from these losses.
