The New Orleans Privateers will play against the LSU Tigers on Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m., according to an announcement on April 20.
This matchup comes after the Privateers secured an 11-7 win over Houston Christian University on Sunday. Miles Curley contributed three extra base hits during his return, including a two-run home run. The team scored seven runs in the last two innings of that game.
Heading into this week, New Orleans is one of three Southland Conference teams to surpass 600 total bases this season, reaching a total of 608. This figure places them behind only Southeastern and Incarnate Word within the conference. The Privateers are also ranked among the top five teams in doubles and home runs.
Dylan Biddick leads the Southland Conference with 42 walks and holds a .477 on-base percentage. He is currently twelve walks away from entering the program’s top ten for single-season walks with twelve games left in regular season play.
Defensively, New Orleans has improved its fielding performance since March 29, making just three errors over their last thirteen games for a .994 fielding percentage during that period. Their overall fielding percentage now stands at .974, up from .960 earlier in the season and placing them fourth in the conference.
Senior pitcher Skylar Jones has allowed only one run over his last nine and one-third innings pitched across five appearances since March 18, lowering his earned run average from 7.50 to 3.52.
LSU enters Tuesday’s game after being swept by Texas A&M over the weekend and holding a record of six wins and twelve losses through six weeks of Southeastern Conference play. On offense, LSU ranks among the nation’s top twenty-five teams for both home runs and walks this season.
