The New Orleans Privateers beach volleyball team will play Nicholls twice on Friday, March 26, at the Bayou Beach Battle held at Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.

This matchup follows the Privateers’ recent performance in the Southland Mid-Conference, where they finished with one win and three losses. Their sole victory came against Nicholls. The team also narrowly lost two matches, both by a score of 3-2, against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Houston Christian University.

Cassie and Ellie Sieling have been consistent performers for New Orleans this season. They achieved a record of three wins and one loss at flight one during the Southland Mid-Conference tournament and are currently 10-5 overall. Ashley Salazar and Brooke Dow have also contributed significantly as a pair in flight two with a season record of nine wins and five losses when paired together.

Another notable duo is Lucianna Alexander and Renata Dykstra, who were recently paired for their first tournament at the Pontchartrain Beach Bash. In their second tournament together at the Southland Mid-Conference event, they won three out of four matches and scored the team’s only point against McNeese State University.

In their most recent meeting with Nicholls, New Orleans secured a narrow 3-2 victory. The top three pairs in the rotation each won in straight sets while Nicholls claimed victories in flights four and five. Currently holding a record of six wins and twelve losses this season, Nicholls is aiming to break an eight-match losing streak; their victories so far have come from matches against William Carey University (twice), Huntingdon College (twice), and East Texas Baptist University (twice).

Looking ahead to Friday’s games, both teams will seek to improve upon their records as they continue conference play.
